Hengellinen taistelu (eri suunnista) + Spiritual battle (from different directions)

... meidän tulee mennä synnintunnukselle... we must go to confession...

1. Takana on menneisyys / Behind there is the past

Paholainen sanoo: ”Voi, voi, mitä (suuria syntejä) oletkaan tehnyt...”

The devil says: "Ay, ay, what (great sins) have you done..."

Sitä vastaan auttaa (paholaisen) halveksunta ja synnintunnustus.

We must despise the devil and go to confession.

2. Edessä on tulevaisuus / In front there is the future

Paholainen sanoo: ”Tulee olemaan entistäkin vaikeampaa, et tule onnistumaan. Heittäydy toivottomuuteen. Tee itsemurha.”

The devil says: "It will become more difficult, you will not succeed. Become hopeless. Commit suicide."

Sitä vastaan auttaa usko Kristukseen, toivo Jumalanäidin apuun.

We must have faith in Christ, trust in the help of the Theotokos.

3. Ylhäältä / From above

Paholainen sanoo: ”Taivas on uhkaavan synkkä. Jumala on ankara.

Devil says: "The heavens are threatening, gloomy. God is merciless. What have you done! He will throw you to hell." Ie. it tries to exclude the filantrophy of God (i.e. that God loves mankind).

4. Alhaalta / From below

Demonit ovat vahvoja ja ilkeitä. Ne virittävät ansoja, joihin ihminen putoaa. Ne asettavat pommeja.

The demons are strong and mean. They  set traps, and people fall into them. They set up bombs.

Against this helps the following: There are more (good) angels than demons. The angels are stronger. The guardian angels and saints help in the battle.

5. Vasemmalta / From the left

Synnit, joita itse tekee.

The sins we commit ourselves. No one commited such sins as king Manasseh. For over 50 years he was an idolater. His life was more sinful than the life of any other ruler. In the end, he repented and was saved. He wrote the prayer of Manasseh.

Jumalan laupeus on ääretön meri.

The Fathers comfort us: All the sins of the world are just one drop of blood. The mercy of God is an endless ocean. If a drop of blood falls into the ocean, it will not turn the ocean red. Mercy boasts before judgement.

6. Oikealta / From the right

Ovela paholainen sanoo: ”Miten hyvä ihminen oletkaan. Sinä teet paljon hyvää... kaikki kunnioittavat ja rakastavat sinua.” Ihmiset uskovat tähän helposti. Tämä on erittäin ovela taistelu. Sen johdosta menetämme koko vaivannäkömme.

The devious devil says: "What a good person you are. You do a lot of good... everybody respects and loves you." People easily believe this. This is a very guileful battle. Because of it we will loose all our effort.

Lääkkeenä tähän auttaa itsesyytös: ”Olen kaikista pahin. Olen paholaisen välikappale.” jne.

The medicine for this is self-reproach (αυτομεμψία): "I am the worst of all. I am the devil's tool" and so on.

7. Sisältä / From inside

Paholainen sanoo: ”Sinulla on valtaisia pahojen tapojen jäävuoria. Unohda kokonaan, että joskus pääset näkemään Jumalan kasvot. Sinun paikkasi on helvetti.”

The devil says: "You have gigantic icebergs of bad habbits. You will never see the face of God. You belong in hell."A man can totally lose his mind and become deceived by this, to end up in extreme hopelessness, commit suicide.

The medicine for this is self-reproach and trust in the help from Christ and the Theotokos.

8. Ulkopuolelta / From outside

Miksi? Ajattelen jatkuvasti: ”Mitä
ihmiset sanovat?”. Meidän tulee ajatella ja sanoa: ”Mitä sanoo Kristus? Mitä sanoo Jumalanäiti? Mitä suojelusenkeli?”

I must do this and that, but I do not do it... Why? All the time I think: "What will people say?" We must think and say: "What will Christ say? What will the Panagia say? What will our guardian angel say?"
